Could it really be true? Could eating more often possibly help you lose weight and get into shape? The short answer, a big fat “YES!”
Eating more often, about 3-5 meals a day, can actually help boost your metabolism, it will also give you more energy and help build muscle…this doesn’t mean you should start binging on junk food of course. But a good mix of protein, carbs, and healthy fats will do the trick. Ok, now I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t always know what are the best proteins, carbs and dare I say it,fats are—so I’ll end this post with a sample list of those.
How this all works:
1) Keep your portions small of course and try to eat every 3 hours to rev your metabolism
2) Don’t forget to kick off your day with a good breakfast
3) Keep healthy snacks on hand–the best snacks, dairy (low fat yogurt with fruit and granola is a great choice), peanut butter on apple slices or celery, cheese, fruits and of course colorful veggies are all great choices.
4) Aim for low calorie (about 100-300) snacks
5) Drink Plenty of Water! (very important)
List of complex carbohydrates (good carbs):
Oats, veggies, low-fat yogurt, corn, beans, skim milk, peas, brown rice, whole wheat pastas, crackers, or bread, sweet potatoes, fresh fruit
Lean Protein:
Poultry (includes, chicken or turkey-white meat & skinless) Fish (includes, cod, salmon, tuna, halibut, many more) Egg whites, lean beef, some low-fat cheeses
Fats:
Olive Oil, almonds, avocado, non-fat cream cheese, natural peanut butter, peanuts, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, etc.
